Newsletters (especially print, but that’s optional) have a higher perceived value than just slapping content up on a blog.
With a newsletter, you are better able to position the content as exclusive, since only those who have subscribed (be it free or paid) have access.
Plus, delivering content in a consistent, easy to digest format can help you deliver more value to your readers and help you drum up/retain more business.
Here are some tips:
1. Think of something you can call your content, other than “articles” or “content”. These words have a ‘cheaper’ sound to them, where something like an “essay” sounds a bit more important.
Same thing, different positioning.
2. Try to spice things up with extra content in your newsletter. Maybe you’ll add in a book of the week, a quote of the day, a recipe…whatever is relevant and useful.
3. Keep A Consistent Publishing Schedule
This is very important. Think about how passionate some people are about TV shows. Once they’ve grown attached to the content, knowing exactly when they can get the next part builds desire and anticipation.
